Ramesh M	Rules and procedures for issuing a Passport differ in each country, therefore no universal reply can be given to your question. However if you can satisfy the Passport officer through documentary evidences that it is utmost necessary for you to get the Passport urgently, rules normally have provision for urgent processing with an additional fees charged for it. By the way in India recently passport of five persons of a family was issued in straight one hour after submission of the application because they were scheduled to go to US to attend last rituals of their deceased son. atanu m	in mumbai u can get passport application form frm adl cps off (police stations)for rs10/- or dwnload it frm net. fill it up with 12 photographs n req documents. carry originals n req no of xexox copies. deposit the form in reg passport off.(worli)under the tatkal scheme. rs1000/- plus tatkal fees of rs.1500/- u will get ur passport in a day or two. Stephen K	You have to go to a passport agency or (if overseas) a consulate) BUT You need to bring Your certified birth certificate two passport pictures Some way to pay for it Your driver's license Proof of departure. Are you in the US? travel.state.gov can tell you the nearest location of an Agency.
