Hello there:
To get an F1 you should:
The student must be enrolled in an "academic" educational program, So apply to Schools in the U.S. online.
You have to be Full time ..12 units usually in most schools.
Being from london i am sure u're proficient in English.
Have funds to show that u can pay for school
Have intend to leave US after you are done with school
These are the requirements that I know of for F1
Although, the best way for you will be to consult an immigration firm in the States. Most firms offer consultation free and will gladly show you the way. Check them out, and ask for help personally, its usually provided free.

As you can demonstrate significant ties to the UK at the moment, you are eligible to apply for an F-1 student visa at the US Embassy London. You'll need to be accepted at a US school and have them issue an I-20, pay the SEVIS fee, make a visa a appointment with the embassy, fill out the application on line and print it out to take with you, pay the non-refundable application fee, then bring the required documents in to the embassy for your appointment.
