How long does it take to recieve a visa to enter the US from Africa?
what is the shortest amount of time you are aware of ?

Don't go to America. Your fingerprints would be taken along with DNA and body search and the immigration will treat you like dirt and you will be asked silly questions like " Are you a terrorist?". Yes., silly, I know but that is even if you have a visa. It is degrading and more so if you are not white. A country to avoid if you ask me.

Go to canada, the US has huge racial issues. But all I see are happy african immigrants in Canada. We don't have the baggage the US does.

it is really hard to do, it can take a minimum of 5 years if you use false paper (i know many of my african friends here(canada) had to) the reason for that is because you have to have a clean criminal record for 5 years before your application is even considered and if the papers are not assosiated to a criminal record or are unlisted they make you wait five years and check again. and yes the law that i mentioned is an american law, here you don't always have to wait 5 years if your papers are unlisted
(wich to be honest doesn't bother me)

but, if you have correct papers then it can be as quick as 6 months, good luck

age, reason for going to the us (tourist/study/business/immigrant)

the country you're in (some countries process faster because of political situation and amount of people applying)

It takes as long as it takes as per the American Embassy working employee. Yes they can issue you it there if you are approved.

But you did not tell us what kind of visa you were applying for.

More of less two (2) to three (3) months to be interviewed after appointment and issuance of visa is more or less one (1) week after being interviewed.

It will take less time to receive the visa than it will to clear immigration when you arrive. So pack plenty of sandwiches in your lunch box!

As another wrote, it depends on the type of visa you are applying for.

Immigration can take many years. Tourist visas depend on the workload of the embassy where you apply: some have walk-in service, for others you have to make an appointment for an interview.

Tourist visas are no longer given back the same day as the interview in most Embassies and Consulates; the processing usually takes too long, so they are ready the next day after the interview.

Look up the particulars of the diplomatic mission where you want to apply:
