How long does it take to get a working visa for Mexico for a U.S. citizen?

I just faxed all the paper work in to the Mexican Embassy in Washington D.C. How long can I expect to wait until i recieve my visa?

I'm moving to Mexico January 4th. Will it come in time? If not any suggestions on how to get one while im there?
