Dear Carlos

As Iraq is an occupied territory rather than a sovereign nation, the presence of any embassies there seems absurd. I infer that embassies will remain in Iraq as long as the international commune is guided by humbug: in other words, until the Second Coming.

Indefinitely. Embassies are usually permanent -- they're where representatives of foreign governments operate. As long as we have any relationship with Iraq, we'll have an embassy there.
