Hell no.
We own our stories. We benefit from telling them whether anyone listens or not. But nobody will ever listen if we stay quiet. Nothing will ever change if we accept the idea that we are perpetual children who should be perpetually grateful.

No, and as an AP, I'm thankful that they aren't. It helps me to be a better adoptive parent.

Oh my, what are you saying?
I can't imagine.
I had a situation years ago that caused me to have to give a dear child of mine up for adoption. I know that she is loved dearly by the family she is now with. Let me tell you that I made sure of that.
I know that people that need to part with children for whatever reason, as well as those that adopt them... Have no idea of what you speak either.

...as if that would ever happen??? LOL
But of course not - if more people would hear what they have to say - perhaps this dysfunctional adoption system could be changed.

Absolutely! They should keep their mouths closed and just be lucky to have a home. No abuse could justify them speaking out against their new owners...uh...parents.

At the church I used to attend, the adopted people would be asked to stand up and display themselves whenever it was time for funds to be raised for the church adoption agency.
Of course, no one ever asked them anything about their lives, or their opinions. They were just supposed to stand there.
So, I would say, for the money gatherers, yes they were to be seen but not heard.

It certainly comes across that way... especially if you are open and honest about how you feel about your own experience and it doesn't agree with the "ponies, pools and rainbows" view of adoption many deluded individuals hold...
And yes, my poor daughter isn't even allowed to make her own decisions about what she likes and wants to do... her adopters paid for her well they can damn well dictate her life to her too can't they? (Sarcasm) But in her case, yes, she is a trophy piece, not a child.

No of course not. I adopted a little boy 3 months ago. I take what you say on here into consideration. Some people on here are just plain mean though, and that isn't going to change anything.

Of course not. Adoptees, like everyone else, should be able to speak freely, and should be listened to.
However, being "heard" doesn't always mean being agreed with, so just getting out whatever you want to say is no guarantee other people will go along with it. Disagreement should not always be assumed to be silencing.
I definitely think adoptees have the right to speak, of course, just as anyone else does.

Of course! All we need to be happy is a pony, a pool and buttloads of koolaid! As long as those basic needs are met we have no real reason to open our bitter yaps about anything!
