Child services should have all the information. Check your counties child services or the county where your child lives.

Providing Information:
The Department or licensed agency shall release any letters, photographs, or other items of personal property in its possession to an adopted adult age 18 or older, birth parents, or adoptive parents of an adoptee under 18 upon written request. Identifying information will be deleted.

More info here:

In addition to ISRR.net and the State Registry; register on as many registries as you can find. Like:
http://registry.adoption.com/

Put yourself out there to be found because they make it very difficult for us Adoptees and Parents to find each other. I will never understand why the State ever has a place interfereing in adult citizens right to freedom of association.

Good luck. If you need any help at all, do get in touch :)

Also, it would depend on your state that the birth took palce in. There are websites that go with each state.

I'm so glad to hear that a mother is looking. Mine didn't and I was devistated by that.

Hi Judith,

I recommend registering with International Soundex Reunion Registry first. http://www.isrr.net I connected with my family members through them. It's free.

If you edit to say the state where the adoption took place, we can add some additional info for you. Some states have open record laws. There are many other adoptees here who have excellent sources for adoption registries online. Good luck.
