Why do some buildings have emergency-exit doors that are unusable during non-emergencies?
Many buildings have these safety features. However, it seems silly that the doors cannot be used in non-emergencies. Why restrict door use in this way?

If these doors would or could be used during the day during non emergencies then the building would not be secured.

It would depend on the business but most want to control entrance and exit points for security. They are required by fire code to have additional exits in case of an emergency.

Several reasons come to mind:

1. To prevent unauthorized entry (security is a HUGE concern)
2. To prevent theft (people sneaking in and out unobserved can walk away with anything)
3. To prevent false alarms (most emergency exit doors automatically trigger an alarm when opened)
