Is it safe to put a booster seat in the middle of the back seat of the car?

Eric F	according the california highway patrol, the worst place to put a car seat is in the middle seat. Reason is in case of a rear end impact, the seatbelts could break and the child will launch into the windshield and there is nothing you can do about it. Having the seat on the side behind a seat is preferred because at worst the child can't launch outwards and the seat belt won't be able to "stretch" as far. your local highway patrol would know best. UCANTCME	Put the car seat behind the passengers seat and this way if you need to glance at the child you can do so very quickly without having to look all the way over behind the drivers seat........ Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

ketchupklf	Only if that seating position has a lap and shoulder belt available. Other carseats can be safely installed with only a lap belt... but a booster seat needs both a lap and a shoulder belt: http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/boosterbasics.aspx "There are no booster seats that can be used with just a lap belt, with the exception of shield boosters which are not recommended.
