I DO NOT agree with this at all! Most of the drivers in the US are awful anyway, but cell phones do not change anything.
I sometimes talk on the phone and I am always quick with my reactions. This was only made into an issue because there are so many idiots out there that can't drive ANYWAY.

good question and you do make a good point but think about this, its not nearly as many old people driving as there are people with cell phones, i hardly see people over 70 driving but then at least 95% of people have cell phones, so if everybody was allowed to use their cell phones while driving then it would be like nothing but old people driving around, get my point? but i do agree that i don't if it should be an actual set age to not be allowed to drive but i've seen old people out there driving that shouldn't be driving, shouldn't be a set age because some people age better than others but should be a way to test them maybe a road test every year or something once you turn 65 or something

So who said the reaction times WERE as slow as a 75 yo ?
Another stupid survey by illiterate Uni students?
It is more like those who use a cell phone have reaction times like those of a driver over .05 BAC, or on drugs, or those who insist on wearing ipods while they are driving.
Also smoking while driving is a cause of road collisions, because those who smoke have a proven lack of confidence in driving in the first place, that's why they smoke and drive, therefore driving under the influence of a drug.
Edit:
The latest road safety research in Australia, (which has the lowest road death and injury rate of any advanced country), has even shown that having loud music playing in the car is a hazard to drivers concentration.

Then why are teens driving ??????????????????
JANUARY 2009
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among 15- to 20-year olds.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 3,490 drivers in this age group died in motor vehicle crashes in 2006 and an additional 272,000 were injured.
Drivers age 15- to 20-years old accounted for 12.9 percent of all the drivers involved in fatal crashes and 16 percent of all the drivers involved in police-reported crashes.
Twenty-five percent of teen drivers killed were intoxicated. In 2006 (latest data available) crashes involving 15 to 17 year olds cost more than $34 billion nationwide, in medical costs, property damage and other costs, according to an AAA analysis.
Among licensed drivers, young people between the ages of 15 and 20 have the highest rate of fatal crashes relative to other age groups, including the elderly.
In fact, the risk of being involved in a fatal crash for teens is three times greater than for drivers age 65 to 69.
Immaturity and lack of driving experience are the two main factors leading to the high crash rate among teens.

what makes you belive this and where did you get such a stupid idea from? Every driver is different first of all, but to make it simple, using a cell phone, talking to a passenger, or changing the radio station or other device or distraction are all equal and it depends on the driver to be able to do that and focus primarily on driving. It's called experience and being a good driver. cell phones and 75 years olds have nothing in common.
