I'd say more than a foot.

I've driven in a foot of snow, and while it slowed me down, I certainly wasn't stuck.

depends on how soft it is.

About a quarter inch if there is an incline the have to stop going up. Rear wheel drive vehicles, if they don't have some sort of limited slip, are almost helpless on inclines in the smallest amount of snow.

Depends on the ride height of the car, the type of tires, what drive type the vehicle is (front, rear or four/all wheel drive) and whether there is ice under the snow or not among other things.

I've driven cars (and trucks) that couldn't handle a 1/4 " of snow on the roads. Some car just don't like going through road slop. I drive a school bus that is all over the road in 1/2 " of slushy snow. But if presented with 1 1/2 feet of white powder snow it just cuts right through it with no problems. And I had a 1984 1/2 Hyundai Pony that could outrun a Jeep in snow. Go figure.
