Can you make an ATV street legal in MINNESOTA?

George A	Arizona is the only state that I have heard of that does allow ATV's to be converted to be made street legal. The ATV has to meet all inspection laws in MN & if there is emissions tests, it must meet the same emissions standard as a street legal motorcycle. Most off road motorcycles & ATV's are not required to meet the same emissions standards as a street legal motorcycle so that would stop you right there from being able to make it street legal unless you wanted to invest too much money redoing the engine to meet the correct emissions standards. Titling & insurance will be a problem to overcome also. Also MN state laws will play a factor. If there is a state law banning ATV's from being able to legally be driven on public roads, then even if you can make it street legal, it is still an ATV & it is still banned from the public roads. Let's say that you can do this in MN for a moment. Costs alone in the amount of money that it would take to convert an off-road ATV into a street legal ATV would not be worth it. If you have that kind of money that you can just waste on a project that the end result would not warrant the cost overhead to complete, then you should give the money to help someone that lost their job thanks to this crappy economy we have now. thumper	nope . and believe it or not an atv is more unsafe on gravel than a cycle. and if it an artic Cat it even worse. i could give you a bunch of injury and people who have died riding on gravel roads here in Oklahoma. some who were expert motorcycle riders Was this answer helpful to you? mike i	ATV's are legal in alot of European countries. I was in Berlin Germany and saw one cruising right past me in the middle of traffic......he was racing a dirt bike,lol. ATV's have more control than motorcyles at Low speeds, however the PROBLEM with ATV's is that they tend to get VERY bouncy and have a very high center of gravity due to the driver. Motorcycles hold a very tight center-space and sorta of form a self-generated downforce and keeps them very stable. The closest thing that could be used on road would be a Polaris Defense series or another series that is like a Small Utility Vehicle. (usualy are caged in) I've driven them at 40mph on pavement in closed facilitys, they handle VERY well on-road and off-road. They are even equipped with Low beams and High beams, heaters, small A/C and windshield wipers. however i dont believe they are street legal either, unless it's in another country other than the USA.
